BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Macon Mayhem clinched their spot in the Southern Professional Hockey League playoffs weeks ago. Tonight, they clinched their ability to control their destiny and choose who they get to face in the first round of the playoffs.

The Mayhem took care of the Birmingham Bulls tonight 7-0, putting a four-point gap between them and the fourth place Hunstville Havoc.

They jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, thanks to goals from Caleb Cameron, Dakota Klecha, Daniel Gentzler, Dylan Vander Esch, and Jake Trask. Trask would add his second goal late in the second period to make it a 6-0 Mayhem lead.

Goalie Peter Di Salvo earned his first shutout win since the 2015-16 season between the pipes.

With one game remaining in the season, the only seeding left to determine is the No. 2 seed.

Macon is currently tied with Pensacola at 72 points each, but holds the tiebreaker when it comes to head-to-head record. A win tomorrow would secure a second place finish for the Mayhem heading into the playoffs.

The Mayhem's final game of the regular season is tomorrow at 7:35 p.m. at the Centreplex against the Evansville Thunderbolts.
