MACON, GA -- Goals, hard hits and a full beard is what makes Dennis Sicard a fan favorite of the Macon Mayhem.

After questions surfaced on a possible retirement, the veteran forward put any rumors to rest Tuesday afternoon announcing his return to the Mayhem next season.

"He's a huge piece of our team on and off the ice," said Mayhem Team Broadcaster Erik Evenson. "He's a good leader."

The Tasmanian Devil shined in his first season with the Mayhem collecting 32 points with 14 goals. His 202 penalty minutes led the SPHL.

"He steps on the ice, hasn't even done anything yet, and you're hearing his name all throughout the arena," Evenson said. "The way they react when he scores goals, when he gets in fights, I think that really has helped build our fan base all throughout Middle Georgia."

Sicard proved himself most worthy in the postseason scoring key goals in series-clinching games against Pensacola and Peoria.
