MACON, Ga. -- Today the Macon Mayhem announced a trade with the Fayetteville Marksmen, sending Darren McCormick and Paul Russell to Fayetteville in exchange for forward Dakota Klecha. The Mayhem have also signed Kevin Irwin to a three-day contract.

McCormick currently leads the Southern Professional Hockey League with 22 goals scored this season.

The Mayhem also announced the return of Brandon Pfeil from loan to the Atlanta Gladiators. Pfeil leads the SPHL in plus-minus on the season with a +26 rating while he's been on the ice.

Klecha has played 37 games between Fayetteville and Peoria this season. He's scored 16 goals and has seven assists on the year.

Head coach Kevin Kerr is excited about adding a new player with some experience to the roster.

“Dakota [Klecha] has playoff experience with Peoria [Rivermen] last season, and had a lot of success," Kerr said. "He’s a hard player to play against, and he was one of the guys we were really worried about facing last year [in the President’s Cup Final]. He was on the losing end of the finals last year, so we’re getting a guy that’s extremely hungry to win it all this season. We are thrilled to have him on the team.”

Irwin will be making his SPHL debut with the Mayhem, he most recently played with the University of Vermont in the 2016-17 season.

The Mayhem return to action on Friday when they travel to Evansville to take on the Thunderbolts.
