MACON, Ga. (WGXA) -- Mercer baseball Coach Craig Gibson was on the verge of becoming the program's most-winning coach Friday.

After tying Barry Myers for the most wins in Mercer baseball history on Wednesday, Coach Gibson got his first break to break the all-time-record on Friday when the Bears played Western Carolina.

Going into the game, Gibson's record was 648-434 in his 20th season as head coach. Former Coach Myers' record stands at 648 wins in 26 seasons.

The Bears are in the middle of a dominating season and did not disappoint with a record that is now 18 wins and 9 losses.

They will face Western Carolina for two more games this weekend.
