Baseball returned to Luther Williams Field for the first time in 8 years, and the Macon Bacon made the most of it. The newest team in the Coastal Plain League knocked off the Lexington Co Blowfish 8-4 in their home opener. The Bacon are now 2-0 on the season.

The Bacon got things going in the bottom of the second when they scored 4 runs off of 4 hits. The score held until the top of the sixth when the Blowfish tied the game at 4 in the frame. Macon answered in the bottom of the 7th with a RBI single to make it 5-4. They scored 3 more in the bottom of the eighth. The score would hold despite a late threat from the Blowfish.

Up next, Macon will host Savannah on Saturday night at 7 pm. It will be the second game in the Battle for the Golden Spork. First pitch will be at 7 pm.
