Tick, Tick, Doom: Georgia Doom unveiled to the public

MACON, Ga. -- Arena football is back in Middle Georgia.

The Georgia Doom were unveiled to the public for the first time Wednesday morning holding a press conference to the public at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.

The Doom are the newest member of the the American Arena League will open the season March 24 against their expected rivals the Atlanta Havoc.

CEO Kevin Adkins engaged fans Wednesday morning talking about the team's players, sponsors, expectations and what fans can expect when the team arrives to the Coliseum.

"Once we put the product out there on the field, and we start playing games, and understand when you get the excitement of the players scoring touchdowns and the big hits and the players going over the walls, the fans will be even more excited about what they're seeing," said Head Coach Derek Stingley.

The Doom will feature at least four players on their roster with NFL experience. Headlining the roster thus far is local prospects like Houston County alum and former West Georgia kicker Hunter Heck and former Southwest Patriot and FVSU defensive tackle Brian Mullen.

The local prospects are already feeling the love from their fan base.

"I mean I had a lot of people coming at me and say 'Hey, I know you, I know you,'" Mullen said. "I mean the love that I get, the support that I get, from people around the city, it's amazing."
