Gary Thigpen

Gary Thigpen joined the WGXA Weather team in January 2020.

Prior to working at WGXA News, Gary had many years of radio and television broadcasting experience in Florida and Georgia, which included working as a news/talk co-host for two years, as well as over two years weather forecaster at another Georgia news station.

Gary is originally from Florida and came to the middle Georgia area in 2002. Growing up in Florida, Gary has seen his share of hurricanes and severe weather. Weather forecasting and broadcasting have been Gary's passion since his teen years.

When Gary isn't in the WGXA weather center, or out reporting on weather events, he enjoys spending time with his pet rabbit, Bun Bun. He also enjoys dining out on his favorite foods, BBQ, or good country cooking.
