Jeff Cox

Jeff Cox is News Director for WGXA News.

He formerly served as Chief Meteorologist from August 2009 through April 2021 and from April 2005 to August 2007.

Jeff grew up in Asheville, North Carolina, and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 2005 with a degree in atmospheric sciences with a concentration in weather forecasting.

Jeff also worked as a radio broadcast meteorologist for The Weather Channel in Atlanta, broadcasting on radio stations across the nation and on XM/Sirius satellite radio.

While serving as Chief Meteorologist, Jeff was involved in special projects in the newsroom, including election planning and several investigative reports. During that time, Jeff says he developed enthusiasm for newsroom strategy and training young reporters.

Jeff has been honored multiples times for his work by the Georgia Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press.

Jeff married his wife Kacey in May of 2006. Their daughter, Harper, was born in March of 2013. Sadie Mae is their Golden Retriever.

In his spare time, Jeff enjoys cheering on his UNC Asheville Bulldogs, the Atlanta Braves and watching NASCAR.
